MeganandTinks is a Volunteer run organisation providing a narrowboat experience on the Canals and Rivers of the East Midlands to Schools, Youth Groups, Care Homes, Friendship Organisations and groups working with disabled and disadvantaged members of our local community. Our Volunteers are vital to our on-going success.
If you like meeting new people, working in the great outdoors and if you have some time free to volunteer to help crew our boats, we can provide you with full training as we are a National Community Boats Association (NCBA) Approved training Centre and our own NCBA certified Trainers will give you the skills needed to crew or even skipper one of our two 70ft narrow boats. We are usually out for the day, but there are some overnight trips that we operate.
We also need help with our administration, organising our crews for trips, boat cleaning and maintenance. If you can give us a couple of hours of your time a week, you will supporting this great community asset.

One teacher, for instance commented that the ‘experience helped students of all ages get involved and develop their confidence through teamwork’. Furthermore, a parent expressed that their ‘children had a great experience’.
The narrowboats themselves have been described as a ‘great asset to the City’ thus, a respondent stated that ‘to lose them would be a travesty and if the way forward is a charitable trust then they are 110% behind it’.
